Here on the farm we have developed expansive flower gardens over the years. Some are beds of perennials in the full sun. Some are wildflowers in the spring shade along a peaceful brook. We have many blooming trees with the flowers. Even though spring and summer are brief here, we manage to have something blooming from the end of April up until Halloween.

Every year I spend time thinking, and being quiet in my gardens, and drawing or painting in them. Then, too, there are occasional visits to draw in others' gardens and sample their different colors.

One winter we had very little snow, but had masses of flowers in the house. I decided to gather them together and paint. It had been years since I'd done any still life painting. It was very interesting to do this, and to enjoy yet another aspect of the blooming world. I liked doing it so much, that I intend to continue with this subject.
